Join the new motorhome-travels blog and get you views and comments across.

In the meantime......

I was afforded the opportunity to redo the old website. It has now been redesigned to run on tablets, smart phones and old trad browsers with hopefully easier to view slideshows of photos from our lovely trip to Oz,NZ , California,Fiji,Samoa,Tonga & Hong Kong in 2007/8 where we hired a motorhome in 2008 and travelled most of the way up the east coast.

Please please let us know what you think, I am very happy with the new design but only you letting us know what you really think will see if we have achieved what we set out to do.

Leave us your views via the comments box below and we will get back to you.

The new website is HERE!

We have been lucky enough to spend 3 months away recently firstly in Malaysia where our youngest son got married which included KL, Langkawi , Georgetown (Penang) and latterly Melaka, then hired a Britz Mercedes Sprinter 313 Motorhome for a month to travel around the top half of North Island New Zealand We spent 4 months seeing North & South island of this lovely country back in 2007/8.

We then travelled the Nullabor plain from east to west in Australia, again in a Britz Sprinter van but this time with a built in external gas BBQ, bliss! Oz also included Sydney, Tassie, Adelaide, Perth and Geraldton.

Including our previous trips to OZ we have now travelled around the outside from Cooktown (QLD) to Geraldton (WA) plus Broome, Kunnarra, Darwin and thru the middle on the Ghan including Alice & Uluru.

We heart Oz & Nz. We finished our trip with 2 weeks in lovely Singapore. If we tot up the miles / kilometres we drove on this trip we can say we drove the equivalent of the distaqnce from London to Tashkent (Uzbekistan)...

It is nice being back in the UK to our own little Motorhome with a whole host of new exciting trips to look forward to.

If you wish to see pictures of this trip chose our dedicated website for all slideshows & photos. It will hopefully work on all tablets and mobile phones .Thanks for looking.

Note both our hire vans were mercedes.

A motorhome is a type of self-propelled recreational vehicle or RV which offers living accommodation combined with a vehicle engine. The term motorhome is most commonly used in the UK, United States, Canada,Australia & NZ. They are used for motorhome-travels.

Features

A motorhome comprises sleeping accommodation for between 2 and 8 people. Each sleeping place is called a berth. Each berth is either fixed or converts from another part of the motorhome's interior. A kitchenette area will contain cooking equipment. The type of equipment included differs depending on the motorhome make and model, but generally a kitchenette has an oven, grill, hob and sink. More luxury models may also provide a microwave. A separate washroom will be housed in the motorhome. Each washroom will have a flushing cassette toilet, shower and basin. The cassette toilet sometimes swivels to provide extra room and can be accessed from outside the motorhome for easy emptying. More recent motorhomes will have a separate shower cubicle.

A motorhome will also have a cab area with a driver and passenger seat. These seats often swivel to become part of the living space. A dinette area provides a table and seating space typically used for eating meals. A lounge may also be included, consisting of either a u-shaped sofa located in the rear of the motorhome or a side lounge.

Ambiguity with RV and campervan

Motorhomes can be easily confused with American RVs and campervans. Their term Recreational Vehicle also refers to trailers and other types of leisure vehicle which can be towed or driven.

Campervans are typically smaller than motorhomes and are constructed differently. Whilst campervans are focussed with mobility and low cost, motorhomes have more emphasis on comfort. For example, campervans generally lack built-in toilets and showers, or a divide between the living compartment and the cab. Volkswagen Westfalia Campers are typical campervans.
